The Elves and the Shoemaker
The Elves and the Shoemaker – Premiered 2016
The musical play begins when a TV station is shooting a news story about Shuman’s Shoes and Such, a local shoemaker’s shop. The Shuman family makes the best shoes in all New England. As the story unfolds the filming is interrupted by Ms. Business and her minions. Ms. Business plans to open a competing shoe factory in town, making and selling cheap low-quality shoes. This competition threatens to put the Shumans out of business. Elves, alerted by mischievous mice, come to the Shuman’s rescue just in time and spoil Ms. Business’s evil plan. Music and mayhem carry this retelling of the Grimm fairy tale to a happy ending.
The original comic script and lyrics for “The Elves and the Shoemaker” were written by Joshua Sellers and Zoe Teets, former CSA Actor/Educators. The play features a score of American folk songs arranged by Lorrie Gray and Thomas R. Martin.
